Not my problem You’re someone from so long ago- You’re someone that I used to know I really hope that you’re doing fine- But right now I don’t got the time, because Chorus: I’m so glad you’re not my problem I don’t wanna make amends Even after all this time I don’t need you as a friend of mine I’m so glad you’re not my problem So you think that I really should care- But those feeling are going nowhere There’s one thing I have found- I’m so glad you’re not around because Chorus I really wish that you’d leave me alone; your true colours have already shown Sure I’ll mourn you when you’re dead- I’m so glad that you’re not in my head Chorus Hey Johnny, I’m doing fine Hey Johnny, don’t got the time Hey Johnny, can’t afford the cost Hey Johnny why don’t you stay lost Bye, bye- so long No, no, you’re wrong Hey Johnny, can’t afford the cost? Hey Johnny- why don’t you stay lost? Hey Johnny, get lost!

Cheque’s on Time A millionaire on minimum wage So they says but not in this day and age That job that I couldn't arrange Looks like I'm down to pocket change Chorus: Cause I'm doing fine Cause my cheque’s on time Tax break for the boys in suits Let’s give the poor some new recruits Sawed the rungs on the ladder of success Now you're up there, screw the rest Chorus: Bridge: How did I get so damn bitter? Never peg myself as a quitter I'll bet you’d like me or so you’ll find Just happen to be the firing kind Chorus: Trickle down means I cut your lawn Or work a shift from dusk till dawn Maybe I could change your kid's diaper Become a professional ass wiper Double Chorus

Janitor Joe Tote the pail, swing the mop Working day I better not stop Dust the shelves, sweep the floor Then unlock the front door Chorus: He’s Janitor Joe, no area neglected- Janitor Joe, the toilets disinfected Janitor Joe, has to survive- So in the morning he arrives Afternoon clean the shop Metal and grime to three o’clock Coffee truck, empty the trash His hand it hurts from his finger he smashed Chorus: He’s Janitor Joe, no area neglected- Janitor Joe, the toilets disinfected Janitor Joe, has to survive- So every morning he arrives Bridge: It’s five o’clock it’s quitting time Until the next morning and the same old grind Janitor Joe what have you learned? What happened to the money that you earn? Well Janitor Joe isn’t that dumb He’s got a kid and a college fund A wife, house that he doesn’t shirk So every morning he’s off to work Chorus: He’s Janitor Joe, no area neglected- Janitor Joe, his life is perfected Janitor Joe says he’s happy- Gets the job done and he makes it snappy
4.
Please I'll try to explain it so let me begin You've always wondered just where you fit in You start out first to make it last Before the future slips into the past Chorus: Please, can't you see you're just like me? Please, you can choose what you want to be Please- please So now you've warmed to a world grown colder With the wisdom you've gained as you've grown older With all that you've seen, all that you've felt Make the most of this life with the cards you are dealt Chorus I can't really answer just where to begin All of the answers are found deep within Don't play the victim, make your own choice Be who you are and find your own voice Chorus Please (4x) Please can't you see, you can be, anything that you want to be Please can't you see, you can be, anything that you want to be, anything that you please

President Some feller asked me about the government And did I know where all that money went And then he asked me to be the president But then I’d have to tell them where all the money was spent On bombs galore and the threat of a nuclear war On tools of hate, designed to wipe out the human race Well then he asked me about the deficit And what’s the overall net effect So then I thought about being the president So I could control where all the money went On food galore, let’s put an end to threats of nuclear war On peace and love, let’s worship prophets that are up above Let’s worship profits that are up above Let’s worship prophets that are up above (let’s go!) It’s so easy to build utopia Spaced between my own two ears And not to inflict it on anyone Or play on other people’s fear About bombs galore, let’s put an end to threats of nuclear war Say peace and love; let’s worship prophets that are up above Let’s worship profits that are up above- Let’s worship prophets that are up above Say peace and love, say peace and love, Say peace, peace, peace and love, love, love- I said peace
6.
Time Bomb Heart Got a time bomb heart- Carries heavy loads Got a time bomb heart- Ready to explode From all the hassles From all of the grief Now that it's gone, You know it’s such a relief For my time bomb heart Got a time bomb heart- And it’s gonna give Got a time bomb heart - But I want to live I'm lookin’ for answers, I'm lookin’ for peace I'm gonna start over Gonna get a new lease For my time bomb heart Tick-tock Boom! Got a time bomb heart- Carries heavy loads Got a time bomb heart- Ready to explode But I’m done with the cryin’, I’m done with despair Now that it’s broken, Who’s gonna care? For my time bomb heart Tick-tock, Boom!

Bit too heavy (for the Mainstream) Trade your coffee for some tea Settle into mediocrity I shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds I wouldn’t like where that leads Just a bit too heavy for the mainstream Just a bit too heavy for the mainstream (dig this) Guitar music is on the way out Does the singer have to shout? Did I upset your inner peace? When’s this racket going to cease Just a bit too heavy for the mainstream Just a bit too heavy for the mainstream (check it) Hey programmer will you decide If you’ll play my latest side Because it’s all starting to sound all the same And the music you play is all so lame Just a bit too heavy for the mainstream Just a bit too heavy for the mainstream
8.
Pop Song We’ll take a sample of yesterday Then dress it up, call it today We’ll call it a pop song- Do you like pop songs? I like a pop song- Let’s call it pop song That’s my example, is it okay? All fabricated, we don’t really play We’ll call it a pop song- Do you like pop songs? I’ll sing a pop song- It goes like this Woo-woo-woo-woo- yeah, yeah (4X) That was my pop song- You like my pop song? I like my pop song- Let’s call it pop song We’ll take a sample of yesterday Then dress it up, call it today We’ll call it a pop song- Do you like pop songs? I’ll sing a pop song- It goes like this Woo-woo-woo-woo- yeah, yeah (4X) That was my pop song-You like my pop song? Gone on too long now?

24 hours Twenty four hours, I live in a van, Next destination according to plan Crack in the windshield, snow up ahead, Just hit the mountains don’t want to be dead Chorus: Don’t you be laughing when I’m walking out the door Pretty soon you’ll be crying when you realize I won’t be coming back no more Twenty four hours, just sleep in a van What’s there to know now, “yeah we’re the band” Hot on the prairies, forty below Just hit the mountains, starting to snow Chorus Twenty four hours, I live in a van, Next destination according to plan Crack in the windshield, snow up ahead, Just hit the mountains don’t want to be dead Chorus Twenty four hours, just sleep in a van What’s there to know now, “yeah we’re the band” Hot on the prairies, forty below Just hit the mountains, starting to snow Chorus Twenty four hours, I live in a van, Next destination according to plan Crack in the windshield, snow up ahead, Just hit the mountains don’t want to be dead Chorus

It’s a lie Thinking about reality Hazy from the THC Confess apologetically Looking for some clarity Pre chorus Another day I’m off to work Making money for some other jerk This they call making a living But it’s all take- there is no giving Chorus It’s a lie; it’s a lie- now you understand that they’re so sly It’s a lie; it’s a lie; you get a slice but they take the pie It’s a lie; it’s a lie; it doesn’t matter if you understand why It’s a lie; it’s a lie; you only have to do it until you die Slave to electricity Wishing for simplicity Poising as a wannabe Hoping that they all believe Thinking about reality Hazy from the THC Confess apologetically Looking for some clarity Pre chorus/chorus Slave to electricity Wishing for simplicity Poising as a wannabe Hoping that they all believe Pre chorus/chorus End part: Uppy-uppy-uppy Joe It’s time for school/work, it’s time to go
11.
Going down to the Beach I’m going down to the beach I might be out of reach Switching off the old cell phone Cause I really need to be alone Chorus: I think that I need to think More than I need a drink I think that I need to think More than I need, to smoke or drink Cause I don’t think you’ll understand About a therapeutic day in the sand I feel the water on my feet I really think that would be sweet Chorus: Break down: Going down to the beach (4X) Chorus: Yes a new day has begun I feel the warmth of the mid-day sun Starting to think I’ll be o-kay Now you realize why I went away?
12.
Angry man Part 1: First you flash then apologize- We’re all flawed don’t you recognize But this act has worn me out- Can we talk instead of shout? Take control of your anger- can’t you feel the danger Alienate those who care- they’re a target and it’s not fair Chorus: Because- you’re an angry man- Can’t you understand? You’re an angry man - You’re an angry man Part 1 Stop the anger, what’s your deal? - Soon your fate will be sealed Can’t you see, we’re all done- Understand that it’s never been fun Try to extinguish your inner rage- the fire it burns but act your age Those frustrations let them go- but all you do is let them show Chorus- Part 1 Why you hardest on the ones you love? – They won’t forget when push comes to shove And when you shove you can push them away- Express your kindness in the word that you say So what’s your problem, what’s the excuse? – We’re getting tired of all the abuse Soon you’ll find that you’re all alone- if you don’t change your nasty tone Chorus - You need a hug? – What do you say? World got you down? Another tough day?- Here’s a lesson – that needs to be taught Learn to appreciate- all that you got

Has been never was You know there comes a time when finally I must decide Seems you never found your place and soon you’ll fade without a trace A has been / a never was you’ll never make it just because You know it’s all the same, you’ll never make in a young man’s game And still I continued on, trying to write your next hit song And all those hits that be we’ll they never seemed to happen for me A has been / a never was you’ll never make it just because You know it’s all the same, you’ll never make in a young man’s game Sometimes, I wonder, I wonder-why it has to be, all this negativity Sometimes, I wonder, I wonder-if it’s a product of our minds Can’t we leave it all behind? Well now I face my final curtain of this I only can be certain And if I fade without a trace would that be such a big disgrace It doesn’t matter if the song it grooved all that matters is the unit moved The hype machine continues on with little regard for music or song All these things I say are true but I don’t care since I found you And come what may, it may be true, but I don’t care since I have you
14.
Elated I used to be a good kid- in fact I was a sad lad Now I am a grown man- and I still feel elated Chorus: I feel elated (4x) Then I was a zero- it added up to something Then I was a chein de neigh- And then I was a columnist Chorus Then we became discarded- So now you know how is started Now they call me old man- but I still feel elated Chorus (2x)
15.
Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll You think I need redemption, you’re praying for my mortal soul You think you’re going to save me, from playing rock and roll You’ve always loved a project, and making someone whole But I can’t see what I’m missing and what is taking such a toll So give me some- sex, drugs and rock and roll 2x I’ve always loved a cup of coffee; it gives me such a kick I’ve always been into heavy music, a well-played guitar lick I’ve always loved the touch of another and the feel of skin on skin I always wanted to make a connection, I’ve never considered that a sin So give me some- sex, drugs and rock and roll 2x Riff vamp I always love to have blast; I always love to have a laugh At the world that we see, from a little THC So give me some sex, drugs and rock and roll 2x So why do you want to save me from the joy of what I do? Why do you want to change me? Why do you want me to be like you? Can’t you see I am smiling but you want to make me frown? There’s nothing wrong with being happy. Why you want to bring me down? Just give me some, sex, drugs and rock and roll 4x

about

In 2020, Canada entered into a lockdown and live music performance for the most part was canceled. The Discarded took this opportunity to finish recording their latest album, “The Getgoes”, but also entered Sessions on the River in Fort Erie on Sunday, August 2, 2020 to record three live sets, which were filmed and released in November, December of 2020 and January of 2021.
They called the sets “The Pandemic Sessions.” The first set was a selection of songs from their first two albums: the self-titled 2017, “The Discarded” and their 2018 second album “Manifesto.” The second set consisted of songs from their 2019 EP “Not From This Town” and their 2019 album, “Sound Check and Fury.” Their third set was entirely unreleased material, some from their recording “The Getgoes” and the rest are brand new songs they have yet to be recorded. This live album is a selection of fifteen songs from the thirty-seven songs performed that day from the three sets. Seven of the songs are from the unrecorded/unreleased third set, so you’ll have something new. You can subscribe to The Discarded’s YouTube channel to see all three sets in their entirety or a fourth set of just this album’s songs.
